Hakuhodo DY Media Partners Inc. has teamed up with mixi, Inc. to launch the new mixi New Year’s Greeting Card service. Hakuhodo DY Media Partners is headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo and is headed by Takashi Sato. mixi has its head office in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo and is led by Kenji Kasahara.

The mixi New Year’s Greeting Card service allows members of the social networking site mixi to create and send New Year’s greeting cards with lottery prizes to their friends and acquaintances in the mixi community. The postcards are issued by the Japan Post Service and can be sent without knowing the recipient’s full name or mailing address.

Users are also able to select from over one hundred different templates, which include not only standard greeting cards, but also cards with popular animated characters or drawings by famous illustrators. Other templates feature corporate advertisements and are cheaper to send than regular New Year’s greeting cards. The service makes it easy to delight recipients with a thoughtful New Year’s greeting.

 

Recipients can also take comfort in the fact that they can choose whether to reveal their full names and addresses to the senders.

 

By linking together modern social networking with the benefits of traditional New Year’s greeting cards, Hakuhodo DY Media Partners and mixi have been able to offer an innovative communication service that combines the convenience and privacy of mixi with the delight of receiving traditional postcards.

– Greeting card orders received by Saturday, December 20, 2008 will be sent by Thursday, December 25, 2008.
– New Year’s greeting cards can be created and sent until Thursday, January 15, 2009.

 

Pricing (includes the cost of the card, printing fees, postage, and tax)

・Standard: 98 yen per card

・Standard sponsored: 48 yen per card

Procedure

 

1.Select a recipient (choose from friends and aquaintences in your mixi community)

2.Select a template and decide on a design and message

3.Select a payment method

4.Recipient is notified via mixi message

5.Recipients can enter their full name and/or address if they wish to receive the card

6.The New Year’s greeting card is sent to the recipient

 

Note: Senders can also make and send cards by entering the recipient’s full name and address themselves
